Sarah Jean Friend, age 80, of Duenweg, Mo., passed away at 11:52 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the home of her Granddaughter in West Fork, Ark. Sarah was born April 21, 1937 in Commerce, Ok. and had lived in Duenweg 20 years before moving to her Granddaughter’s home in Ark. a year ago. Sarah graduated from MSSU with a degree in Accounting. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant for several local companies.
Sarah was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1959 and was a member of the Joplin East Congregation.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Stevens and wife Donna, and Christopher Friend, all of Joplin, and Joel Friend and wife Rebecca, Beaumont, Texas, two daughters, Amy Long and husband Rick, Bella Vista, Ark., and Michelle Marvin, Chariton, Iowa, 29 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren on the way.
Sarah’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, East Congregation, 2500 Alpaca Road in Joplin, with Elder Max Mourglia officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
