Louis Edward Marble died in hospice care on April 5, 2017, in Tampa, Fla., following complications from heart disease. He was 73.
Mr. Marble was born on Dec. 26, 1943, in Corvallis, Ore., to his parents, Cecil and Wanda (Hays) Marble.
He married Bettina Marble in 1964.
He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1967 and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and assigned to the Signal Corps. His Army career included service in the Vietnam War, two tours in Germany, and he ended his Army career with the White House Communications Agency during President Reagan’s second term retiring in 1987. He went on to subsequent careers as CEO of Marconi Communications, Inc., a Program Manager for EDS, Inc., and as a licensed Real Estate Agent and Broker. He was a former member of First and Cavalry Presbyterian Church in Springfield and was currently a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tampa.
Mr. Marble was a dedicated husband and father with a passion for serving his church and helping others, he was known for his generosity. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bettina, Tampa; two sons, Max Marble and wife, Sandy, and Jeffrey Marble, Tampa; two grandsons, William Marble, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and Matthew Colón of Tampa; and two granddaughters, Mariah and Cierra Preston, Tampa.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tampa, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at First and Cavalry Presbyterian Church, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery, Neosho, MO. Rich Williams will officiate.
Graveside services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
