Stephen Douglas Harris, age 64, Galena, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Joplin Gardens of Joplin.
Stephen was born August 20, 1952 in Joplin, son of the late Troy Harris and Lorene Henson Harris. He attended Joplin Schools, and worked as an independent contractor, mainly as a carpenter and mechanic. He married Pam Leman in1970, and to this union were born four children, he then married Athena Hancock who preceded him in death on August 19, 2012.
In addition to his parents, and his second wife, Athena, he was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Douglas Harris, and two brothers, Michael Harris and Dennis Harris.
Survivors include his children, Melissa Diane Harris, Cory Wayne Harris, and Brian Harris all of Joplin, and Shawna Harris Moore of Oklahoma; sister, Terry Turner and husband Rick of Joplin; and his uncle, Milo Harris of Joplin; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Inurnment of his ashes will be with his parents in Forest Park Cemetery at a later date.
