(From Simpson Funeral Home)
JoAnn was born October 12, 1930 in Opolis, KS to John and Viola Hopkins. She left her earthly body to join her family and friends in heaven on April 8th at 1:00 am at the home of her daughter in Carl Junction.
JoAnn lived a good, full life, always thinking of others, helping her family in whatever way she could. She was married to Glen E. Webb for 41 years. As a military man, he took her to many places she could never have dreamed of going. They were stationed in Germany for 2 tours of duty from 1956 to 1965. While serving with him there, she was elected to be the NCO wife of the year.
After returning to Webb City, they helped found the VFW in Webb City. They began the Christmas Basket food program from the basement of their home. JoAnn's connection to Carl Junction High School has remained constant over the years. She loved to participate in the Bi-Annual All School Reunion. She remained in contact with her classmates from the CJ Class of 1948 and her Wednesday night dinner with a special group of friends called the "Dirty Dozen."
After helping to organize the VFW Auxiliary in Webb City, she served as President, Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She loved to work with the Order of the Eastern Stars projects. Despite her failing health, she was able to participate and attend the Potato Bake in Mid-March this year.
She worked as a checker at Skaggs, and a crimper at LaBarge. Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker cooking huge meals for her family.
She is survived by: her special Gentleman friend, James Heger, of Joplin, as she called him, her children Enid Clark, daughter, of Carl Junction; special second daughter Nora Cannon and husband Larry; sons, Glen E. Webb and wife Karla of Carthage; Bill Webb and wife, Gayla of Webb City; and Bob Webb also of Webb City.
And 16 Grandchildren: Nora Cannon, Layton Clark, Jr., Grace Jones, Jenny Robinson, Glen E. Webb, Mark Combs, Jimmy Webb, Melissa Combs, Travis Wallace, Ladonna Webb, Jake Pinion, David Webb, Amanda Patton, Cari Roush, Bobby Webb, Sara Burke and 29 great grand children.
