Mary Carmella DePaola Maloney died peacefully at National Health Care Nursing Home on March 20, 2017 at the grand age of 105.
She was born in the Bronx, New York on October 29, 1911. Her parents were Antonio and Lucia DePaola, Italian immigrants.
Mary lived all of her life in the Bronx and Westchester County areas, and as a young lady worked at Liberty Lace in New York. She married Daniel Maloney in June of 1937 in New York, he preceded her in death in 1999. She moved to Joplin in 2002, and spent nine delightful years at Autumn Place in Joplin where she started her hat and scarf business.
Mary is well known for her delicious meals; she loved playing cards, crocheting, dancing, music,and teaching people Italian.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Wilson, Rhode Island and Gerrie-Ellen Johnston of Joplin, Mo, nine grandchildren, Michele Wilson, Erick Wilson, Daniel Johnston, Gillian Johnston, Jackson P. Johnston, Melissa Johnston, Kristal Johnston, Anthony Johnston and Jennifer Peak, five great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
