Mildred Marie Lomelino Largent was born February 20, 1928 in Liberty Missouri. At the age of eight, upon her profession of faith, Mildred was baptized by her father who later served as the Illinois Southern Baptist State Evangelist. Mildred graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Effingham, Illinois and prepared to enter the nursing profession. During World War II, Mildred had joined the American Red Cross and maintained her membership for twenty years, receiving numerous awards for her work.
