Goldie Conner, 85, Neosho, passed away April 21, 2017 at Freeman West in Joplin following a short illness. She was born February 9, 1932 in Noel, Missouri, the daughter of Eugene ‘Bud’ and Mettie Jane (Barker) Nims.
Goldie was a lifelong Neosho area resident. She and her husband, Jim owned and operated Conner Excavating, established in 1969. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, reading, music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Goldie married James W. ‘Jim’ Conner on May 27, 1949 in Neosho and he preceded her in death on November 3, 1999. She is survived by five children, Darlene Bacon (Mike), Janey Harper (Steve), Jim Conner (Ruth), Nancy Wood, all of Neosho and Kathi Zornes (Terrie) of Cassville; three brothers, Kenneth Nims, Gary Nims and Elmer Nims, all of Neosho; three sisters, Sue Brodie, Ruth Cummings, both of Neosho and Martha Spencer of Joplin; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Goldie is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho with Dr. Jerry Seigel officiating. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Goldie’s grandsons, Michael Bacon, Chris Harper, Matt Rice, Stephen Harper, Justin Conner and Dalton Stipp. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The casket will be closed at all times. Contributions in memory of Goldie may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
