Maxine Celia Barney, age 99, Joplin, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village.
Maxine was born August 19, 1918 in Hornick, Iowa to the late Frank Graybill and Hilda Lundeen Graybill and had lived in Joplin the past twenty years.
A homemaker, Maxine had worked as a sales associate at J.C. Penney in Des Moines, Iowa for several years. She was a longtime member of the former St. James United Methodist Church and cancer survivor. Maxine will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Barney.
Survivors include a daughter, Nita Royer and her husbnad, Lonnie, Wichita, Kansas; a son, Randy Barney and his wife, Vicki, Joplin; and two granddaughters, Shyla and Kendra.
Memorial services are planned for Friday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Rev. Tommy Freeman will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Spring River Christian Center, in care of Parker Mortuary.
