Brenda Sue Wright-Richards, age 62, Joplin, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her home after a sudden illness.
Brenda was born September 11, 1955 in Aurora, Missouri to the late Freddie Wright and Oletta Black Wright and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
She was a graduate of Joplin schools and the Baptist Bible College in Springfield.
Brenda worked for the Joplin R-VII School District as a crossing guard and in the loan department at Commerce Bank for several years. She retired from Federal Express after fifteen years of service.
Brenda belonged to several dart leagues and traveled with her husband competing in tournaments. She was active in Southside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and volunteered with youth camps. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She married Robert Richards on September 23, 1985 in Joplin. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two children, Ashley Nickel and Chad Richards; a brother, David Wright and wife, Karen, Massachusetts; a sister, Pamela Backerman and husband, Jim, Joplin; nieces and nephews, Melissa Hunter, Vanessa Grabber, Sandra Backerman, Brian Wright, Regina Hight, Jonathan Wright, Daniel Lawellin, Dacia Gomez, Danita Martin, Jimmy Backerman II, Jodie Davis, Chad Backerman and many great nieces and nephews.
Services are planned for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. David Wright will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
