Earline Spence, age 88, of Carterville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 following a sudden illness.
She was born July 27, 1929 in Jasper County, Missouri to Earl and Katherine (Provins) Royer.
Earline worked for the former Rex Metallic Casket Company, Webb City, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carterville, Missouri. She loved being at the lake, fishing, quilting, and gardening. She was a fabulous baker. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a very big part of her life.
She married Donald Spence on May 2, 1952 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Beth Taylor, and one brother W.C. Royer.
Earline is survived by one son, Dale Spence and wife Nona, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, one daughter, Lela Overman, Columbus, Kansas; two brothers, Harlan Royer and wife Wilma, Fred Royer and wife Karen; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her close friend, Darlene Plumber.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Carterville Cemetery with Fred Royer officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home anytime on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends at Earline’s home, 229 E Main Carterville, Missouri, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Carterville Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
