Raymond Roy Lawrence, age 88, of Prosperity, Missouri went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018 after losing a long battle with pneumonia.
He was born on April 23, 1930 to Raymond and Thelma Lawrence in Leach, Oklahoma. He served in the Navy and came home to Webb City, Missouri to marry his sweetheart, Carol Creech on February 17, 1951. He retired from the Webb City Water Department after several years. Raymond was a charter member of the MO-Ark Appaloosa Club. He was a 58-year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge of Oronogo and an 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Raymond was also a 56 year member of the Webb City Elks Lodge # 861. He was an active member of the Villa Heights Christian Church and enjoyed reading the bible daily.
Raymond is survived by 3 children; Terry Burke and her husband Dave, Carla Lawrence, and Robert Lawrence and his wife Cassie. He had 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Norma Finley, Donna Hickman and her husband Bob, and Judy Foster and her husband Bob. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Lawrence.
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 between the hours of 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Carterville Cemetery.
