Frank Delano Jenkins, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his home with family at his side.
Frank was born January 5, 1939 in Milo, Missouri, one of ten children born to the late Ernest Cleo Jenkins and Henrietta Jones Jenkins. He worked as a roofer all of his adult life, moving to various areas to work. He began working at the Salvation Army in Nebraska where he was baptized, and then worked on grain elevators in Nebraska and Iowa before moving to Joplin in 1985. He worked for Joplin Roofing for many years, and was an independent contractor who traveled to different locations in Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois working as a roofer. After retiring, he enjoyed working in his garden, and watching television, especially wrestling with his kids.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by four sisters. and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Montgomery Jenkins, whom he married December 17, 1984 in Jasper, Texas. Also surviving are three sons, Frank Delano Jenkins, Jr., Brian Lynn Jenkins both of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kevin Lynn Jenkins and wife Sherry of Spokane, Washington; brother, Ernest "Ernie" Jenkins of Juniata, Nebraska; stepchildren, Jay Newman and wife Kelly, and Betty Sue Newman all of Joplin; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jeff D. Martin officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
