Jimmy Watson, age 61, of Afton, Oklahoma, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at home.
Jimmy was born on September 16, 1956 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the son of Clifford Lloyd Watson and Lois Mae Tennell Watson. He was raised and lived in the Noweta, Oklahoma area until 2006 when he moved to the Tahlequah area with his niece, Debbie.
Jimmy was a heavy equipment operator for Dewey Oil Field Supply for fifteen years. He was then a brick mason in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Joplin, Missouri and Springdale, Arkansas. While working in Springdale, Jimmy fell from a 44 foot scaffolding where he suffered a traumatic brain injury that resulted in grand mal seizures, which led him to being permanently disabled. Jimmy was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, John Hallett; four brothers, Clifford Watson, Robert Lloyd Watson, Thomas D. Watson and Ray Watson and two sisters, Alice May Watson and Linda Hutson.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Kathleen Carshell (Alvin); niece, Deborah Horn (Bobby); three sisters, JoAnn Teuebaugh (Curt), Carol Swepston (Gary) and Sharon McKee (Dennis); six brothers, Bill Watson, Wayne Watson (Teresa), Jerry Watson, Allen Watson, Dean Watson (Melissa) and Michael Watson (Donna); several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery with Rev. Jeff D. Martin, officiating. No visitation is planned.
Funeral services are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
