(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Ryan Christopher Higgins, age 42, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep Monday morning, December 13th, 2021, from a heart attack. Ryan was born on February 2nd, 1979 in Joplin, to Robert and Marolyn Higgins. Ryan graduated from McAuley High School and was attending Missouri Southern State University.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Betty Higgins, and Stephen and Elizabeth Howard. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marolyn Higgins, his brother and sister-in-law, Sean and Amber Higgins. His two favorite people, nephews Reid and Wyatt Higgins, his aunt and uncle, Carolyn and John Howard, and numerous cousins.
Ryan was a very beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. His quick-wit and sarcastic nature were known by all, but his intelligence, kindness, compassion and patience were just as much a part of who Ryan was as his humor. He loved learning and reading and was in the middle of many books at the time of his death. He loved playing Xbox with his nephews, who adored him as much as any human possibly could. He has left a gaping Ryan sized whole in all our hearts and our lives will never be the same without his presence.
The family will receive friends at a visitation Thursday, December 16th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Mason Woodard. Services will be held Friday December 17th at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Joplin located at 6th & Pearl, in Joplin. Interment will follow at Osborne Cemetery, Joplin.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Ryan.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for all the outpouring of love and support.
