(From Parker Mortuary)

Violet Darlene “DD” Knowles, age 67, Joplin, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Violet was born June 21, 1955 in Webb City, MO daughter of the late William Jasper Knowles and Violet Bernice (Hayes) Knowles.

She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Memorial High School in 1973 before getting her Beautician License where she was a cosmetologist for over 30 years. She then was led to help children and began working with the Head Start Program as a teacher’s aide.

She loved working with the children, and enjoyed this job for several years before joining her twin sister working as an Environmental Service Tech with Mercy of Joplin where she made many friends over the years before retiring in 2018.

She was a dedicated member of the Lone Elm Pentecostal Church where she volunteered for many services, and was a constant aide for the Pastor and his wife. She loved studying the Bible, visiting with the sick and home bound, and listening to Gospel Music. She was also known for always having a cup of coffee close by, and taking care of her ”favorite” family, her dogs. She was a light to many and will be greatly missed.
