(From Lakin Funeral Home)Dorothy Marie Witt, age 81, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was born in Joplin, MO on Wednesday, September 3, 1941; daughter of Frederick and Bernice (Kutz) Wagner. She was Valedictorian for the 1959 class of Sarcoxie High School.
Dorothy married Robert "Bob" Witt on Saturday, September 26, 1959, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie, MO.
Dorothy loved the farm. She spent many hours taking care of cattle, gardening, canning, and loving on her cats. She was a wonderful cook, known for her famous butterhorn rolls and sugar cookies. She also enjoyed reading. She was a seamstress, sewing many outfits for her family through the years. Dorothy was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dorothy was very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She sang in the choir, was a member of the Altar Society, and founded/worked the homemade ice cream booth for the church picnic for over 30 years. Dorothy had a generous and kind heart. She often helped people and animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and made time for them at any moment. She loved others!
Surviving are the following: two sons, Vince (Janelle) Witt of Pierce City, MO and John (Roxana) Macchi of Cartagena, Colombia in South America; three daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Reynolds of Pierce City, MO, Gayle (Tom) LaPlante of Lees Summit, MO, and Connie (David) Harter of Pierce City, MO; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Martin Wagner (Jean) Wagner) of Sarcoxie , MO, David Wagner of Sarcoxie, MO, and Neil Wagner of Pierce City, MO; and many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Bernice Wagner; and her husband, Robert "Bob" Witt.
Rosary Service will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 6:30 PM. Visitation will follow until 8:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, beginning at 10:30 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Burial will follow at St Patrick's Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's and St. Patrick's Cemetery or another charity of your choice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
