(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Edith Lavon Moore Hayzlett Clark, age 86, passed away at 5:58 pm, Tuesday, July 198, 2023 at Lexington Park Health and Rehab, Topeka, KS following an illness.
Edith was born March 24, 1937, in Columbus, KS. Her parents were Charles Eugene and Doris Levina (Smith) Moore. She had lived in Topeka for a few months, moving from Joplin MO where she had lived for 30 years. She grew up in Columbus, KS, and had lived in various towns in Kansas and Missouri, before moving to Joplin.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, playing the piano, and making arts and crafts that she gave to her kids and grandkids.
Edith was first married to Julius Dean Hayzlett on June 7, 1953 in Laken, KS. She later married Leonard Allan Clark on July 13, 1978 in Shell Knob, MO. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Moore, and one sister Mary Ploeger.
Surviving are three sons, Kenny Hayzlett, Shelll Knob, Rodney Hayzlett (Linda), Joplin, and Jason Clark (Mandi), Republic, MO; three daughters, Debra Blair (Doug), Elkhart, KS, Lora Schiffelbein, Topeka, and Judy Nieson (Gary) Syracuse, KS; six step-children, Tim Clark (Geradette) Clinton, IA, Ed Clark (Rita), Camanche, IA, Steve Clark (Jacinta), Wichita, KS, Stan Clark, Davenport, IA, Vickey Clark, Delmar, IA, and Linda Facemire, Prescott, AZ; two brothers, Eddie Moore (Judy), and David Moore (Fern), both of Wichita; three sisters, Doris Burnett, Wichita, Grace Skipton (Larry) Garden City, KS, and Connie Nibarber (Robert) Justin, TX; 35 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Pastor Matt Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
