(From Parker Mortuary)Shirley Ann Busick, age 87, Joplin, Missouri, passed away on July 26, 2023.
Shirley was born on January 14, 1936 in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Edwin T. Cook and Mabel L. (DuRall) Cook. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Godfrey Busick, on July 26, 1952. Together, they enjoyed raising their five children.
Shirley was a talented artist and loved to paint and sew. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Joplin, Missouri. Shirley had a caring heart and showed that through her work as a nurse.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Godfrey R.Busick Jr., sons Larry G. Busick, Sr., and Godfrey R. Busick III, and her brother, Edwin T. Cook, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Claybrook (Jay) of Spring, Texas; daughter, Brenda Fahmy (Samir) of Joplin, Missouri, son, Charles E. Busick of Joplin, Missouri; sister Wanda Carpenter of Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, 29 great – grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and extended family members. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2203 Indiana Avenue Joplin, MO 64804 on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 12:30 pm. A luncheon will be provided after the service.
