(From Clark Funeral Home)Mike Guest, a lifelong Neosho resident was born on March 21, 1943. He passed away peacefully from this life at his home in Neosho on July 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was the eldest of two children born to Floyd Guest and Betty Wallace Alfrey Ensor, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1961 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mike was a retired insurance agent and had previously worked at FAG Bearings in Joplin. He loved to fish and organized several fishing trips to Ontario, Canada. He was also an avid reader, primarily of mysteries. He never met a stranger and loved being around people. He told wonderful stories and had a fantastic sense of humor and could be counted on to tell a joke to lighten any occasion. He was a ham radio operator for many years.
Mike also loved cars and had many over the years. In the early years of their marriage, Carol never knew what he might drive home!
Mike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Schumaker Guest; two children, April Guest Hoover and husband, Bill and Carson Guest and wife, Tracy; three grandchildren, Wren Hoover, Cameron Hoover and wife, Sierra and Brooke Guest; his sister, Sharon Daugherty and husband, Steve; an aunt, Peggy Keatts; a bonus sister, Valerie Alfrey Smith and husband, Jim and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Mary Ann Schumaker and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 9 am until 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Mike’s memory be made to Crowder College Foundation, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850. A private family service will be held.
