(From Derfelt Funeral Home)James John Cook. Sr., age 81, Joplin, MO passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
He was born July 14, 1941 in Galena, KS, to the late Paul Wayne Cook, SR. and Ruth Thelma Younger Cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Wayne Cook, Jr. and Michael Frank Cook; and a sister, Anita Katherine Frost.
Jim is survived by three sons, James Cook, Jr., and wife Teresa, Johnny Cook and wife, Kelly, Warren Mathers and wife, Mary; four daughters, Christine Mathers, Linda Pence and husband, Skip, Carol Chaffin and Crystal Gould and husband, Eli; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Don Frost.
Burial will be at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel.
