Leland Selvey

Leland Ira Selvey, Jr. was born to Leland Selvey, Sr. and Marguerite Selvey in Springfield, MO October 21, 1943 and grew up in Lamar, MO, with two younger sisters, Betty Ann and Saralu. He died July 17, 2023.

After graduating from Lamar High School in 1961, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, in 1965. He joined the Air Force following college, stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, AK for four years. He received his MBA at the University of Arkansas and began a career in healthcare. Working at Shared Medical Systems, he met Carol Rivera and they married in 1986.

Their one child, Laura, was born in 1988 in Metairie, LA. Leland retired early and was a stay-at-home dad supporting Laura in school and extracurricular activities. He was a gifted videographer and an avid baseball fan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Laura; sisters, Betty Ann and Saralu; niece, Heather; uncle, Joe Bloomer; and many cousins.

A military service will be held at 10:30 am, July 27, 2023, at Sarasota National Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm at Church of the Palms in Sarasota, FL.
