(From Clark Funeral Home)Winona ”Evelyn” Harmon was born December 28, 1937, in Neosho, Missouri, to LeRoy and Hattie (Morgan) Robbins.
She entered into rest on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Porta Caeli Hospice Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following a three month illness. She was 85.
Evelyn was a long-time resident of Neosho and graduated from Neosho High School. Upon graduation, she began a long and impactful career at the Bank of Neosho (Community Bank and Trust) before retiring in 2002.
Evelyn began her next phase of life by selling real estate in the Neosho area. She enjoyed helping people realize their dreams. Evelyn enjoyed sewing and making wedding dresses.
Evelyn was active in her local church – First United Methodist Church of Neosho and served as treasurer for many years. She served on the Newton County Health Board and served as President for many years, retiring from the board in 2022. She was a member of Chapter BT PEO and enjoyed a game of bridge with the girls. She enjoyed all of her friends and family.
In October of 2022 following a stroke, Evelyn moved to Bixby, Oklahoma to live with her son – Doug and his wife Karen. While in Bixby, Evelyn was able to get to know her Great Grandson – Thomas. They would spend “Tuesdays with Tommy”. It was the highlight of her week for “Gi-Gi” and Tommy to play with each other .
She married James “Jim” Harmon on December 12, 1957. She and Jim enjoyed traveling all over the world in their retirement years together. Jim preceded her in death on October 5, 2011.
Evelyn is survived by:
David Harmon of Neosho, Doug Harmon and his wife Karen of Bixby, Oklahoma, Granddaughters Shannon Marshall and her husband Matt Marshall of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dr. Allison Harmon of Cleveland, Ohio and Grandson Kyle Devine of Lamar, Missouri. Great Grandchildren Thomas James Marshall and Mia Riley Marshall of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Sparks.
