Norva Askins

Norva Lucille Askins was born March 20, 1925 in Burdette, Colorado, one of ten children to Ernest L. and Thelma E. (Dwigans) Furrow. She entered into rest on July 16, 2023, in Granby, Missouri at the age of 98. 


Norva moved to the Diamond, Missouri area on February 7, 1953, from Colorado. After raising her children, she provided childcare in her home and later worked at Schrieber Cheese until her retirement. She was an avid quilter and had made a quilt for all of her family members. She also enjoyed doing embroidery. Norva was a member of the Diamond First Baptist Church. 








Norva married Alvie ‘Mib’ Milborn Askins and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1993. She is survived by three children, Ruby Etcheson and husband, Bill of Diamond, Jim Askins and wife, Evelyn of Diamond and Roger Askins of Diamond; eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and siblings, Bernard Furrow, Dale Furrow, Ardith Westergard, Lorna Knapp, Jan Cline and Joyce Larson. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three siblings, Shirley, Milton and Darlene. 








Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10 am at the Diamond First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Diamond Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Thursday from 9 am until 7 pm and the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
