Truman Gazaway

Truman Wayne Gazaway, 75, Liberal, MO went home to be with his personal savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an unexpected heart attack. Truman was born February 5, 1945 in Croweburg, KS to Clifford and Frances P. (Portwood) Gazaway.

Truman was raised on a rural Bronaugh, MO farm and attended a one room Glenwood grade school and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1963. 

After high school, he was cordially invited (drafted) to serve in the United States Army, where he was deployed to Vietnam, for two years. After returning from serving his country he married his sweetheart, Margie Coonrod, the love of his life for 54 years, on June 25, 1966 in Garland, KS.








Truman was a founding member of the Main Street Bible Church, which he attended faithfully every week. He was also a member of Liberal Civic Group, and the Liberal VFW Post #2664. He worked at McNally Manufacturing in Pittsburg for 30 years until its closing, then worked for Progressive Products in Pittsburg until his retirement in 2010. Truman loved to hunt, fish and garden, plus he spent countless hours outside.

After being blessed with grandchildren he loved to attend Liberal Bulldog basketball and softball games.

Truman is survived by his wife, Margie, of the home; one son, Brian and Ruth (York) Gazaway, Liberal, MO; one daughter, Lisa McThompson and Lyle, Liberal, MO; four grandchildren that he loved more thank life, Taylor, Lucas, and Mallory Gazaway, and Faith McThompson, all of Liberal; two brothers, Galen and Becky Gazaway, El Dorado Springs, MO, Glen and Judy Gazaway, Nevada; one sisters, Patricia Gazaway, Ft. Scott, KS; one sister-in-law, Kathy Gazaway, Nevada; brothers-in-law, William (Bill) and Joyce Coonrod, and Robert (Bob) and Linda Coonrod; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers, John William (Bill) Gazaway, Clifford Maynard Gazaway, Francis LeRoy Gazaway; one sister-in-law, Carol Prichett; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Geraldine Coonrod.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Large Cemetery, Garland, KS. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Guy Bohnstedt

Guy James Bohnstedt, Jr. of Miami, OK passed from this life Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home. He was 72.

Guy was born April 30, 1948 in Joplin, MO to Guy James and Dorthey Allene (Shaw) Bohnstedt. He had lived in the Miami most of his life and was a 1966 graduate of Miami High School.

He was an electrician for Rock-Ten Paper Company in Joplin, MO until his retirement. Guy was a Staff Sergeant serving with the Kansas National Guard for 6 years. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Miami and the I.B.E.W. in Joplin, MO. He was and avid hunter and fisherman and an amazing friend, father and husband.








Guy married Alice Rantz on January 6, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Guy is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Alice Bohnstedt of the home, his children, Ryan James Bohnstedt of Topeka, KS, Travis Knoblauch and his wife Nicole of Alamogordo, NM, Laura Johnston and her husband Steve of Quapaw, OK and Codi Cook and her husband Ryan of Seneca, MO, 1 sister, Nancy Abel and her husband David of The Villages, FL and 12 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Northwest Baptist Church in Miami, OK with Rev. Michael Knight officiating. Trudy Cotton

Trudy Carol Cotton of Quapaw, OK passed from this life Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Integris Miami Hospital in Miami, OK. She was 76.

Trudy was born February 3, 1944 in Spur, TX to Pete and Bessie (Donathon) Jones. She had lived in Quapaw since 1978.

She worked as a consultant for the C.H. Hill Company with the Environmental Protection Agency. She was a member of Burkhart Church of Christ in Racine, MO.








Trudy was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Vernon Burrow on March 15, 1986 and Karl Cotton on October 23, 2014, 1 son, Johnny Burrow on April 5, 2014, her parents and 2 sisters, Jealeta Minks and Anita Garman.

Trudy is survived by 1 son, Joe Burrow and his wife Angie of Jay, OK, 1 daughter, Theresa Cleaver and her husband Matt of Quapaw, OK, 1 sister, Earlene Westbrook of Conway, AR, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Burkhart Cemetery in Racine, MO. Pallbearers will be David Harris, Austin Schmidt, Zachery Burrow, Cody Burrow, Jade Hick, Joe Burrow and Matt Cleaver. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Eugene Stump

Calvin "Eugene" Stump, age 74, of Lockwood, Missouri died December 30, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO as a result of COVID 19 side effects. He fought hard for 94 days to recover from COVID 19, but lost his battle.

He is survived by his wife Connie of 53 years; his daughter Tammy (Jon) Engle of Liberal, MO; his son Darren Stump of Lockwood, MO; nine grandchildren, Cody Wright, Jason, Cassie and Jackson Engle, Justin and Katelyn Stump and Hunter, Landon and Avery Stump; eight great grandchildren, Addie, Bentley, Lanie and Oliver Engle, Connor, Carter, Chase and Cason Gomez. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Faye Stump, his sister, Juanita Rookstool, his brother, Robert Stump; a daughter, Kathy Stump and a son, Kevin Stump.








He was a draftsman at Horton Engineering and Finley Engineering as well as McNally's in Pittsburg, KS. In 1972 he went to work for Barton County Electric. He started farming full time in 1978 and farmed with his brother and father. He served on the Produce Exchange in Golden City for 20 years and was on the road board for Cedar Township for 19 years and served as the Dade County Western Commissioner for four years. Eugene had a passion for row cropping and raising cattle and living the country life. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar. If the church doors were open, he was usually there. He loved his Lord and Savior with his big heart.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Lamar First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

George Sheat

George Edward Sheat, age 84, of Lamar, Missouri passed away December 28, 2020 with his family by his side.

George was born April 19, 1936 in Lamar, MO to David William "DW" Sheat and Bessie Mae (Collins) Sheat. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1954. 

On July 28, 1957, George married Patricia Sue Bass in ­Lamar, MO and she passed on May 4, of this year.








George was a farmer, a member of the Liberal, MO Athletic Booster Club, a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Liberal as well as the First Baptist Church in Lamar. He had been a school bus driver, a Young Farmers Member, where he helped with their tractor pulls. He was a Board Member of Barton County Farmers CO-OP, enjoyed hunting and fishing and participating in tractor pulling, having won several trophies over the years. George loved playing pitch and going to the Barton County Sr. Center with his wife, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He was always pulling pranks and quick to laugh... no wait...chuckle and was always fun to be around.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Sheat and Chris (Dana) Sheat, all of Lamar, MO; two daughters, Brenda (Tom) McKay, Jasper and Teresa (Russell) Foster, Kansas City, MO; one brother, David (Joan) Sheat Jr., Lamar, MO; two sisters, Betty Lou (Glen) Benedict, Nampa, ID and Norma Walker, Lamar, MO; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers-in-law Bill Bass, Kansas City, MO and Marvin McCollough, Lamar, MO; and a sister-in-law Martha Bass, Girard, KS.

In addition to his wife, George was preceded in death by a sister, Reba McCollough, and three brothers-in-law, Tom Bass, Mike Bass and Sam Walker.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Lamar First Baptist Church. There will be a private family burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Eugene Meyer

Eugene W. Meyer, Sr. 81, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

He was born on July 4, 1939 in Fergus Fall, Minnesota, to the late Walter H. and Irene (Rossow) Meyer. 

He moved to southwest Missouri in 1953. He was a 1958 graduate of Neosho High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and served his country until June of 1964. Coming home from the service he returned to Sarcoxie, Missouri to reside on the family farm. 

On December 22, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mary Sue Guy. Together they shared fifty-eight years. 








Gene was employed with TAMKO Roofing for thirty-three years, and was also engaged in full time farming. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sarcoxie. His greatest joy was spending time at his grandchildren's activities.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Cammie Nagel (Larry), of Reeds, Eugene Meyer, Jr. (Lori), of Sarcoxie, Mishell Hoover, of Carthage and Leann McCallister (Mike), of Monett; eleven grandchildren, Brandon Clemons (Bailie), Ana McConnell, Kyle McCallister (Kaitlyn), Matthew Meyer (Hailey), Kelli McCallister, Elisha Meyer, Kassie McCallister, Emily Meyer, Caden Hoover, Karlee McCallister and Jalynn Hoover; great-grandchildren, Knox Clemons, Chad McConnell, Lucas Meyer, and was so looking forward to welcoming Archer Clemons to the family; three sisters and one brother; as well as a host of other family and friends.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
