Alex Arehart

Alex Arehart was born November 27, 2002 in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Dewayne and Rachale (Harris) Arehart. He entered into rest on May 21, 2018, following a sudden and unexpected illness at the age of 15. 

 Alex was a lifelong area resident and just completed the ninth grade with honors at East Newton High School. He was active in the Special Olympics and the Bright Stars Program. 

 Alex is survived by his father, Dewayne Arehart of Granby; his mother, Rachale Arehart of Springfield; paternal grandmother, Eileen Dell of Granby; one brother, Jonathan Arehart of Granby; three sisters, Caitlin Arehart of Springfield; Chelsey Arehart of Neosho and Cassie Walker of Granby; uncles, John Arehart and wife, Mary of Granby; Linus Dell and wife, Christy of Carl Junction; aunt, Christy Shembler and husband, Jarod of Carl Junction; nieces, Cadence Arehart and numerous cousins, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his 'papa', Linus Dell and great grandmother, Georgia Pendergraft.

'The world lost a shining light, Alex lit the darkness of so many, bringing peace, laughter and love to all he met'.

Leanna Harris

Leanna Ruth Harris, age 71 years, of Anderson, Missouri was called away to Heaven on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Leanna was born on September 2, 1946 in Ellsworth, Kansas to the late Del and Stella Ruth (Lorenz) Armbrust.

She is survived by her husband, Olen Harris; a brother Delbert Armbrust and wife, Patsy; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Leanna.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Stella Baptist Church in Stella, Missouri.

Rosa Pfeifle

Rosa Pfeifle, age 63 of Webb City, Missouri passed away Sunday May 20, 2018 following an unexpected illness.

She was born October 15, 1954 in Webb City, Missouri to Edward and Rosa (Baugh) Read.

Rosa has lived in the Webb City area her entire life and was a graduate of the Carthage High School class of 1972. She worked at Motorola, LaBarge, Tamko, and retired from KMT Waterjet as a buyer. Rosa was a very devoted member of the Webb City Church of the Nazarene.

She married David Pfeifle on June 27, 1999 in Brooklyn Heights, Missouri and he survives of the home. Rosa is also survived by one son, T J Pfeifle and his fiancé Melissa, Carthage, Missouri; three daughters, Heather Ellison and husband Gabe, Webb City, Missouri, Linsey Osborn and husband, Matt, Joplin, Missouri, Kira Pfeifle, Mechanicsville, Virginia; one sister, Jeannie Pritchard, one brother, Danny Read, and 13 grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Thursday May 24, 2018 at the Webb City Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Nathan Haeck officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:00 Thursday at the church prior to the service.

Contributions in memory of Rosa are requested to the Webb City Church of the Nazarene Building Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Barry Bailey

Barry Bailey, age 75 of Webb City, Missouri passed away May 22, 2018 following months of declining health.

He was born March 3, 1943 in Galena, Kansas to Walter “John” and Ruth (Bryant) Bailey.

Barry was a tool and dye maker for Astro Instruments and retired from Leggett and Platt.

He married Patsy Isenberger on June 21, 1979 and she passed away August 30, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and two children, Barry and John Bailey.

Barry is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Bailey, one sister, Sharon Mulroy, two grandsons, Aaron and Christopher Bailey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday May 25, 2018 at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Mt. Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home

Mary Alice Hadley

Mary Alice Hadley, age 90, longtime resident of Carthage more recently of Lee’s Summit, Mo, passed away early Monday morning May 21, 2018 at her home. She was born on January 17, 1928 in Powell, Mo, the daughter of Hugh Hamilton Dabbs and Blanche Sappington Dabbs. Mary Alice was a graduate of Neosho High School and then earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. She married Jack Hadley on June 24, 1950 in Neosho, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2006 after 56 years of marriage. Mary Alice was a devoted wife and mother and a teacher. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include three sons, Phillip Hadley (Donita), Belton, Mo, Mark Hadley, Kansas City, MO, and Scott Hadley Olathe, Ks, a daughter, Melinda Smith (Phillip), of Kansas City, Mo; nine grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. James Lee at 12:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Park Cemetery Carthage, Mo under the direction of the Knell Mortuary.

Catherine Ellis

Catherine L. 'Kate' Ellis, age 77, Joplin, passed away at 8:53 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at her home following an illness.

Catherine was born August 22, 1940 in Galena, Kansas to the late William Henry Ashlock and Bessie Opal White Ashlock and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life

She owned and operated Adams Day Care Center in Galena for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. Catherine enjoyed spending time with her family and taking trips to Branson. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Catherine married Harvey Wayne Ellis on June 8, 2002. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2005.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Michael DuVall and a brother, Billie Lee Ashlock.

Survivors include a son, Alfred Randy Adams and wife, Cindy, Galena, Kansas; four daughters, Virginia Bingham and husband, Dale, Joplin, Janet Lee Artinger and husband, Terry, Joplin, Penny Louise New and husband, Larry, Galena, Shelly Clark and husband, Danny, Joplin; two brothers, Michael Henry Ashlock, Joplin, Bobbie Dale Ashlock and wife, Lessie, Oregon; three sisters, Roberta Wammack, Galena, Jackie Diane Davis and husband, Jim, Galena, Linda Sue Ashlock, Texas; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Kimberlea Hutson

Kimberlea Ann Hutson, age 46 of Joplin, Mo. passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her home following an illness.

Kimberlea was born on February 23, 1972, in Joplin., the daughter of Dennis and LeaAnn (Carter) Hutson. She has been a resident of Joplin all her life. Kimberlea worked for Teleperformance in Joplin for ten years as a Customer Service Representative.

She is survived by her parents, Dennis Hutson of Duenweg, Mo., LeaAnn Hutson of Joplin, two daughters, Kierstyn Hutson and Michaela Brewer both of Joplin, a brother Patrick Hutson of Joplin, one granddaughter, Spencer Hutson.

Services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Kenny Arnold will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Mortuary.

The family has requested contributions be made to Covenant Motorcycle Ministries Prison Team, in care of the Mortuary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
