Glenn Graydon Williams, age 93, of Lamar, Missouri passed away at his home, Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
Glenn was born January 20, 1925 in Medoc, Missouri to Thomas and Saleta (Morrison) Williams. He graduated Carl Junction High School in1943 and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway. On July 11, 1945, he married Margaret Lavon Tucker and together they raised two children. He furthered his education at Kansas State Teachers College, and taught school in Alba, and Liberal before becoming Principal in Conway, Missouri. He then went on to be the Superintendent of Bronaugh for four years and Superintendent of Jasper for four years. In 1968 he and the family moved to Lamar, where he served as the School Superintendent until his retirement in1985.
Glenn served as the “self-appointed” mayor of Medoc, attended First Baptist Church, Lamar, taught Sunday school, enjoyed golf, baseball, and coaching. He was a huge fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, always looked forward to the Big 8 Basketball Tournament and was a devoted fan of Lamar athletic teams.
Glenn leaves behind a son Rick (Denise) Williams, Lamar, Missouri; a daughter Susan (Pat) Anderson, Webb City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey (Dr. Rose) Anderson, Jennifer (John) Koehler, Jessica (Joel) Koehler, Dr. Holly (Dr. Rev. Brian) Ford, Dr. Joni (Matt) Splett, and Kelly Williams; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Margaret in 2009, a brother, Thomas Williams and a sister, Dorothy Troyer.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Nashville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
