Norma Lowery

Norma June Lowery, age 88, Joplin, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Spring River Christian Village.

Norma was born June 20, 1929 in Faulkner, Kansas, daughter of the late Clairon Poor and Blanche Nash Poor. Norma graduated from Columbus High School, and was a stay at home mother taking care of her family. She was a member of Blendville Christian Church, and volunteered many hours at Spring River Christian Village and Freeman Hospital.

She married Carl Lowery on December 2, 1948, he preceded her in death on December 31, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charles Gibson.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Lowery and wife Kathy of Umatilla, Florida, David Lowery and wife Rita of Granby, Missouri; sister, Barbara Gibson of Joplin; grandchildren, Stephen Lowery and wife Ginger, James Lowery and wife Jessi all of Springfield, Missouri, Daniel Jobe and wife Rachel of Neosho, Amanda Drake and husband Jeff of Granby, Bryan Lowery of Umatilla, and Tiffany Guillen and husband Polo of Joplin; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with her nephew Doug Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Edgmand Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Freeman Auxiliary.
