Betty (Elizabeth) Emily Magers went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22 at her home near Joplin. She was 82. She was born on December 17, 1931 near Joplin to Ira and Lucile Davis.
She married Marvin Magers on June 14, 1953. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage until his passing on July 27, 2001. We know that they are joyfully together again!
Betty graduated from Joplin High School in 1950. She graduated from Joplin Junior College in 1952 with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She worked at the offices of Hercules Powder before her children were born. She worked in the office of Medical and Merchants Collection Company from 1974 to 1986. All who knew her adored Betty with her sweet, kind personality. She was a member of Iron Gates Christian Church. She was also a member of Women of Wall Street Investment Club.
Betty’s survivors include her son, Miles Magers of the home; daughters, Sarah Williams (Steve), Joplin, Marvena Clay (Tony), Carthage; sister, Iris Hayward, Eugene, Missouri; grandchildren, Beth Tressler (Joel), Austin Williams (Chelsea), Henry Williams, Miles Williams, Charles Williams, Ericka Lyons, Alex Clay, Evan Clay; great grandchildren, Lydia, Bodey, Paloma, Molly, Owen, Toby, Brittany, Taylor, Kaylee, Kelsey; and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Davis. Services are planned for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Charles Stillman, Minister, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Williams, Henry Williams, Miles Williams and Charles Williams. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
