Shirley Ann Van Hooser, age 77, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away at 12:45 a.m. May 30, 2014 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House, Harrison, AR.
Shirley was born January 24, 1937 in Joplin, MO to the late Leo R. Schrader and Helen Woodford Schrader.
She worked as an administrative assistant for Autotronics in Joplin, MO for several years. She loved the outdoors and was a member of the Grand Lake Sailing Club and the Sailboat Racing Program. Shirley was an avid golfer and will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Blaine Van Hooser. They married October 4, 1978 in Miami, Ok.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Traci Phillips and her husband, Scott, Joplin, MO, Marla Phillips and her husband, O.J., Harrison, AR, Cheryl Estes and her husband, Johnny, Harrison, AR; two stepsons, Buck Van Hooser and his wife, Kathy, Springfield, MO, Craig Van Hooser, Springfield, MO; one sister, Arlene Patterson and husband, Richard, Joplin, MO; eight grandchildren, Reagan Armer, Johnathan Phillips, Misty Hawley, Cody Estes, Cory Estes, Dr. Ashley Merrick, Antoinette Martin, Carson Van Hooser; nine great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Leo W. Schrader and an infant son, Gregory Riggs.
Memorial services are planned for Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Hills Hospice House – Harrison, AR, or to the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Foundation – Harrison, AR.
