Carrol Dean McClanahan Skelton was born June 25, 1947 in Joplin to Estell and Juanita McClanahan. Carrol passed away 6:30 a.m. on May 21, 2014 in her sleep and went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
She was a lifetime area resident. A graduate of Joplin High School in 1965, she married Alva Skelton, Jr. on November 6, 1970, and together had three children, Malynda Elwin and her husband Mike of Springdale, Arkansas, Douglas Skelton and his wife Denia of Joplin, and Kelli Owen and her husband Tom of Joplin.
She is a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Her working career lasted more than a decade for the Pillsbury Company of Joplin. In her retirement she enjoyed the crafts class at her church, shopping, and most of all being a very devoted and loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren who adored her.
She is survived by her husband, her children, and her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Maranda, Jackson, Jossatt, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Angie; her sisters, Norma Campbell and husband George, Karen Eubanks and husband John, and Patricia Smiley and her husband Lawrence all of Joplin, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Youth Group, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
