Harriet Sarah Jordan Hailey, age 83 of Joplin, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born January 3, 1931 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Turner Jordan and lived in Joplin her lifetime. A dedicated homemaker and mother, She was lovingly known as “Nan” to her grandchildren. She was a member of Joplin Family Worship Center and particularly loved doing Street Ministry. Harriet always had warm hugs for everyone. She also enjoyed searching for things at garage sales.
On January 5, 1949 she married Raymond H. Hailey. He preceded her in death July 25, 2009. She was also preceded by a daughter, Carla Diane Hailey; a brother, Archie Jordan; two sisters, Earlene Lovell, Terry McKenzie; two grandchildren, Howard Leroy Garrett and Camie Diane Hailey; and one great-grandson, Jason Alexander Hailey.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Hailey, Tonya Judd and husband Shannon all of Joplin; a son, Raymond H. “Chip” Hailey, II and wife Linda of Joplin; two brothers, Albert Jordan of Battlecreek, MI, Roy Jordan of Joplin; six grandchildren, Jeff Garrett, R.D. Garrett, Stephanie Stapleton, Ray Hailey, Marcus Hailey and Tyler Hailey; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Parker Chapel with Pastor Gene Bebee officiating. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the mortuary.
