Howard Eugene Andrews, age 74 of Mount Vernon, MO, passed away at his home at 7:46 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 following a long illness.
Born December 21, 1939 in Sarcoxie, MO, he was the son of the late Clyde and Grace Margaret Hallock Andrews. Howard lived in the 4-State area most of his lifetime and in Kansas City for several years. His work included employment at Master Electronics and Worlds of Fun, both in Kansas City, Bunny Bread Bakery in Joplin and retired from Bagcraft Corp. in 2002. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from March of 1957 through March of 1961. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
On October 1, 1988, he married Peggy Griffin Andrews in Joplin. She survives.
Additional survivors include ten children, Cheryl Long, Robert Andrews, Belinda Lansaw, Eugenia Longstaff, Eddie, Tommy, Allen and Emily Andrews, Bud and Mark Ezell; three stepchildren, Chris Hayes, Allen and Ronny Ezell; one sister, Violet Kralicek; one brother, Earl Andrews; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Andrews; sisters, Betty Moser and Reba Kirby; and brothers, Joe Andrews and Terry Andrews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Tommy, Eddie and Robert Andrews, Bud and Mark Ezell and Sam Becker will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary.
