Russell Eugene England, age 92 of Joplin, passed away at 3:18 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Spring River Christian Village after a long illness.
Born September 26, 1921 in Baxter Springs, KS, he was the son of the late Duffy and Lilleus Clay England and had lived in Joplin since 1925. Russell had worked at R&S Chevrolet, Starlight Tool, and retired in 1983 from F.A.G. Bearing. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1946.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Eugene Caldwell of Joplin; nieces, Karen England Strawter of Louisville, KY, Sharon England of Poplar Bluff, MO, Kim Weathers of Joplin; a nephew, Robert England, Jr. and wife Auburn of Joplin; a granddaughter, Tina Larraga; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and special friends, Bruce Baird and the Baird Family.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Vivian England and Margaret England; two brothers, Robert England, Sr. and Kenneth England.
Funeral services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12th at Parker Chapel with Rev. George Triplett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Private interment will be in Parkway Cemetery.
