Alex Belt

Alexander David Belt, 30, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 20, 2020, in the comfort of his home.

Alex was born on August 7, 1989, in Marion, Kentucky, to David Belt and Rebecca Joice. He attended Joplin Schools. On July 31, 2009, he married his only love, Ivy-Lynn Rodgers, and together they had two children, Klara-Lynn and Presley-Lynn.

Alex was very intelligent and an avid reader. Some of his favorite authors were William S. Burroughs, Hunter S. Thompson and Jack Kerouac. He always enjoyed music and his favorite artists were Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley. Alex had a vast knowledge of history and his dream was always to become a history professor. He was also very proud of his Cadillac.










Alex found a true talent in cooking and was an accomplished chef for Red Onion Espressoria in Joplin. He also loved to grill outside in the summertime for his family. Alex was a good husband and a wonderful father to his girls. He loved his family with his entire heart.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Deon “Papaw” Belt.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ivy; his two beautiful daughters, Klara-Lynn (12) and Presley-Lynn (9); his mother, Rebecca Moore, and step-father, Shawn Moore; his father, David Belt; his brother, Baxter Belt; a half-sister, Alyssa Miller; maternal grandparents, Wallace and Carol Joice; paternal grandmother, Patricia “Mamaw” Belt; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at an upcoming date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
