Retha Wade

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Retha Mearlene Wade, a former resident of Neosho for many years, died March 29, 2020 in Branson, MO.

Retha was born September 25, 1930, and married Robert Lee Wade the day after she graduated from high school in May 1949. After a few years, Bob, Retha, and their first son, Jerry, moved to Phoenix, AZ because Jerry had severe asthma. They had their second son, Carl, while in Phoenix. They moved back to Neosho in 1961, and on a 5-acre piece of land outside of Neosho, they build a new home.

Retha worked as a veterinarian assistant at Simmers Animal Clinic and later at the Neosho Animal Clinic for many years. Bob preceded her in death in 1973.

In addition, her parents, George Wesley and Mearlene (Mefford) Reding, an infant son, Larry Stephen Wade, and Retha’s younger sister, Imogene, all preceded Retha in death. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Neosho.

In 2005, Retha moved to a Lakewood Estates villa in Branson, to be closer to family.

She is survived by Jerry and his wife, Sandy of Eureka, Missouri; Carl and his wife, Nancy, who live in Branson and own Branson Vacations and Cruises; Retha’s two granddaughters: Amy Michelle and husband, Dr. Antonio Ziherl of San Antonio, TX; and Shelby May and Joshua Fowler of Valencia, CA. Retha is also survived by her brother, Herbert and his wife, Glenna who still live in Neosho.

After moving to Branson, Retha worked at the Knights Inn hotel and later started volunteering at the Branson Senior Center, only a short distance away. When her eyesight started getting bad, due to a brain tumor that was inoperable, she started driving her scooter, also called her “Cadillac” to the Senior Center. Throughout her life, Retha was always a hard worker and never moved slowly, whether walking or driving her car, and later her scooter.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, a private graveside service was held, and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
