Mrs. Dorothy L. Cole, age 93, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Silver Creek Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Cole, daughter of the late Lester and Esther (Vanderlip) Elder, was born on February 4, 1927 in Woodston, KS.
In her early years, she grew up and was raised in Rocky Comfort and attended Rocky Comfort School.
On January 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to Harold Cole in Cassville, MO. They made their home on a farm in Exeter, moving to Joplin in 1954. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2009. She was previously employed with Pennington Drug as an order clerk and attended Mt. Hope Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Richard Cole, and his wife, Carol, of Joplin; three daughters, Donna Johnson, and her husband, Jack, of Webb City, Barbara Bowman, of Joplin, and Evelyn Sample, of Joplin; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Private burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, MO. Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
