Elizabeth L. “Betsy” Newhouse, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2020, at the age of 97 years. She was born on June 1, 1922, in Webb City, Missouri and spent many years in the area before moving to Phoenix, Arizona.
While living and working in the Phoenix area, she met and married Earl “Doc” Newhouse on May 12, 1967. After his retirement, the moved to the Prescott/Prescott Valley area. She continued participating in may community activities and held many volunteer positions in local arts organizations. She particularly enjoyed her time playing golf and belonging to the Northern Arizona Porcelain Art Guild where she created beautiful painted porcelain pieces.
She was predeceased by her parents, Pansy and Fred Lann; her beloved Doc; and infant daughter, Sue Ann; sister Margaret; a nephew, John McKay; a niece, Robbie Smith; best friend, Fritz Smith and her very special polydactyl cat, Sugar.
Survivors include her nieces, Judy McCalla of Metairie, LA, Jane Youngsman of Mt. Vernon, WA, Anne Brutsche, of Omaha, NE; step-daughter, Martha Hinton of College Park, MD; special friends, Meg Berrian of Webb City, MO and Kathy Polvino, Steve Perry and Ron Stephens all of Prescott, AZ.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers with Maggie’s Hospice and Welcome Home for the exceptional care of Betsy during her final days.
At Betsy’s request, there will be no service. Traditional burial will be with family at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. In lieu of flowers , donations to any Humane Society – Particularly Yavapai Humane Society of Prescott would be most appreciated.
