Maurice Leroy Parish, 91, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at The Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin, Missouri.
Maurice was born on October 25, 1928 to the union of the late Roy J. and Rilla Mae (Spivey) Parish. He grew and up in Great Bend, Kansas, where he also graduated from High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his service he received several commendations, Japan-Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Campaign Stars, United Nations Service Medal and One Oversea Bar.
On November 1, 1974 he was united in marriage to Goldean Weeks Together they shared thirty-nine years until her passing on December 16, 2013.
Returning home, he worked over forty years in the oil business in the United States as well as several foreign countries. He was a partner with his wife in the rental real estate business. He was a member of the VFW lodge. He enjoyed auctions and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldean; parents; children, Michael Parish and Pam Davis; and two sisters.
Maurice is survived by his children, Howard Parish of Joplin, George Parish and wife, Cherri, of Dodge City, Kansas, David Parish, state of Georgia, Jennifer Parish of Reeds and Cody Parish and wife, Emily, of Webb City; grandchildren, Douglas Parish, Phillip Parish (Samantha), Jeffrey Parish (Jessica), Tony Parish (Brandy), Tiffany Patton (Shane), Nicki Parish Heath (Jonathan), Danny Parish (April) Jennifer Parish, Justis Catron (Chelsea), Skyler Catron (Julie), Jessie Jack (Cassi), Marley Parish, Brynlee Parish, Tanner Parish, Annabell McCrary, Kayden McCrary, Shiloh McCrary, Adam Fisher and Jeremy Fisher; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Parish are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Interment will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery with full military honors. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jessie Jack, Cody Parish, George Parish, Justis Catron, Skyler Catron and Doug Parish.
