James Chatman

James Wendel Chatman, Jr. was born June 16, 1951 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, one of five children to James Wendel, Sr. and Della Mae (Capps) Chatman. James entered into rest on March 23, 2020 in Neosho, following a sudden illness at the age of 68.

James graduated from Rolla School of Mines and had his PE Designation. He worked as a civil engineer in construction and infrastructure. While working on various job sites, he maintained Neosho as his home base and he retired in 2016. He was a world traveler, a builder and a special brother and uncle and of the Baptist faith. 








 James is survived by his four siblings, Ira Douglas Chatman and wife, Deborah Kay of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Steven Phillip Chatman and wife, Cathy of Davis, California, Laura Lynn Chatman of Neosho and Brian Clay Chatman and wife, Julie Ann of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Micaela Chatman, Ariel Kleczewski, Clelland Chatman, Kyle Chatman, Sarah Vercruysse, Lillian Harr and Clayton Chatman. 

 He is preceded in death by his parents.

Private family graveside services will be held.
