On March 12, 2020, David Eugene Pierce passed away at the age of 82.
Dave was born on December 14, 1937 in Harrison, AR to Marion E. “Dub” and Ernestine “Coulson” Pierce. He moved to Missouri and attended Alba High School where he met and married his lifelong sweetheart, Betty. They were married on December 24, 1957 and had three children. He worked at Tamko Roofing and retired after 32 years.
Dave was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He cherished being outdoors. His favorite activities were gardening, fishing, and hunting. He spent indoor time writing stories, drawing pictures, woodworking, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was known for his infectious smile, sense of humor, and the ability to always care for others ahead of himself.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Ernestine Pierce; his brothers, John and Pete Pierce.
Dave is survived by his wife, Betty Pierce; one brother, Bob Pierce; one sister, Polly Roy; three children, Debbie Moore and her husband Mark, Mike Pierce and Sherry Pierce; three beloved granddaughters, Chelsea Comer and husband Justin, Ciarra Carroll and husband Adam, and Christina Moore; as well as three great grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Brenley Comer, Brexton Comer, and Elaina Carroll.
Visitation will be held at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Fasken Cemetery, northeast of Carthage.
