Ruby Moore

(From Bland-Brumback Funeral Home)

Ruby Marie Moore, 91 of Stockton, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 23rd, 2020 at Stockton Lake Health Care in Stockton, Missouri.

Ruby was born on April 22nd, 1928 to Robert and Verdie Herndon in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up on a farm near Linn, Missouri where she learned about being a wife and mother and loving Jesus. Ruby learned from her mother all about the importance of being in church and following Jesus with her whole heart and life.

The Herndon family took their devotion to the church serious and each week they took it upon themselves to feed the preacher on Sundays. Ruby loved Jesus and the church and was baptized at an early age. She would later train up her family with this same devotion.

Ruby married the love of her life, Milton Arthur Moore in Osage County, Missouri and they enjoyed a blessed life until his passing on January 9th, 1993. After they were married Milton decided to attend the Missouri Highway Patrol academy in Jefferson City, Missouri. They lived there until he graduated and then from there they were transferred to duty in Carthage, Missouri.

While in Carthage, Ruby went to work for Ramsey’s Department store in Carthage and later helped put in a store here on the square for a short time. They lived in Carthage for several years and then were transferred back to Jefferson City for 2 ½ years. In 1968, Milton was promoted to Sargent and was then stationed in Stockton, where the family remained until his retirement. They became an active part of the Stockton community and were blessed with the ability to travel with the ‘snowbirds’ a few winter seasons to Florida and Texas.

While in Stockton, Ruby and her family became members of Stockton Christian Church and served here faithfully. Ruby was well known for her pie making skills and was often called upon to bake either a chocolate, coconut or lemon cream pie. Along with baking pies, Ruby was equally gifted with a green thumb and always raised a huge garden which produced more than anyone could imagine. She always had enough for her family and shared with many others as well.

Ruby is survived by a daughter Sandy Kay Moore and a brother and sister in law, Chet and Barbara Landes and a nephew Mark Landes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Verdie Herndon, her husband, Milton Moore, and a daughter Carol Ann Moore Carlille. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stockton Christian Church.
