(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)Charles Wakefield “CW” McGuire, 72, of Lockwood, MO entered into rest on November 4th, 2020 after enduring complications of COVID-19 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO.
CW was born to Everett and Phyllis Kentner McGuire on December 13, 1947, in Lamar, MO. CW has 3 siblings, Deborah McGuire Moenning, Paul, and Kim McGuire. Everett and Phyllis preceded him in death.
CW attended Lockwood High School and graduated in 1965.
He was married to Betty Thomas on June 28th, 1969 in Lockwood, MO. She survives in the home.
CW enlisted in the military and served during Vietnam War under the 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He was awarded a Purple Heart. CW worked for Melton Truck Lines for many years. Upon retiring from Melton, CW worked for the MFA of Lockwood until 2014.
CW was a man of faith and often tested God’s limits in his adventures. CW was dubbed the “mayor” of Lockwood and knew no strangers. CW enjoyed fishing, attending estate sales, and 'tinkering' on several projects. CW was a staple to the Lockwood American Legion where he served breakfast on Saturday mornings faithfully.
CW is also survived by his children Carol, of Joplin, Charles “Chuck”, of Tulsa, Casey, and wife Angie, of Jasper, MO. His grandchildren Micaela, and her husband Keifer, of Joplin, Gabriel, of Joplin, Creek, and Cale of Jasper, MO. Siblings Deborah McGuire Moenning of Omaha, NE, Paul McGuire and wife JoAnn of Nixa, MO, and Kim McGuire, and wife Afton of Lockwood, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his dog, Bear.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions can be extended to the Lockwood American Legion Post #372.
