(From Fohn Funeral Home)Anyone who knew him, knew he would introduce himself as “Richard Branstetter is my name and praising the Lord is my game” and on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 Richard entered the Lord’s game after losing his three-week battle to COVID.
Richard Lee Branstetter, 78, of Wheaton, Missouri was born on May 21st, 1942 to Bee Richard Branstetter and Fontella Furl (Seitz) Branstetter in Stone County, Missouri.
He received his education in Galena, Missouri and as a young man, he farmed across the United States, later becoming a truck driver. He enjoyed traveling the United States and he never knew a stranger. He was famous for his generosity, and he touched many lives through giving away money, eggs, candy, clothes, and more.
His favorite past times centered on spending time with his family, showing old pictures while telling stories of the past, checking and feeding cows, buying lottery tickets, watching wrestling on Monday nights, listening to his favorite preachers, and caring for others. Those who had the privilege of visiting with him, knew he loved his Cherry Dr. Pepper and Kit Kats.
On May 28th, 1976 he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Bickford (she survives) of Cassville, Missouri and they share two sons: Christopher Lee Branstetter and his wife, Kayla Branstetter of Wheaton, Missouri and Richard Joshua Branstetter and his wife, Melluckie Branstetter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His other children include: Rick Branstetter, Randy Branstetter and his wife, Glenda Branstetter of Marionville, Missouri, Ritchie Huff of Wheaton, Missouri, Kenny Chandler, Rocky Reed and his wife Latricia Reed of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Skeeter Lamp and his wife, Amanda Lamp of Granby, Missouri, and Sherry Duncan and her husband, Jim Duncan of Carthage, Missouri and at least twenty grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and another great-great grandchild on the way.
Preceding him in death include: his father, mother, brothers Robert Branstetter and Bill Branstetter, sister Linda Branstetter, son Kenny Chandler, and two grandchildren.
Richard’s other famous saying was, “Today’s the best day of my life and tomorrow will be better” and he was correct for he is now in a better place serving and singing for the Lord.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Chapel of Grace in Monett, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial will be at Hog Eye Cemetery east of Wheaton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
