(From Parker Mortuary)Mr. Gary Myrle Cartright, 79, a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri, went to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, November 26, 2020, while at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Gary entered this life on March 30, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri, one of five children born to the late Harold Leroy and Leora (Whitworth) Cartright. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1959 and furthered his education at NEO in Miami, Oklahoma, receiving his Journeyman Electrician Degree.
On April 2, 1960, he was united in marriage to Linda Long and to this union three children were born, Pam, Kevin and Jeff. In 1979, he purchased Joplin Industrial Electric from his in-laws, after 24 successful years in business he retired in 2003. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, National Electrical Contractors Association and IBEW Local 95. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and spending time with his kids, grandkids & great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bob, Galen and Ronald Cartright.
Gary is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda Cartright of the home; three children, Pam Kuehn and husband, Charlie, of Joplin, Kevin Cartright also of Joplin and Jeff Cartright and wife, Jeanette, of Carthage; five granddaughters, Ashley, Alexandria, Hannah, Grace and Katherine; six great grandsons, Dominique, Daunte, Aayden, Davien, River and Beau; a sister, Joyce Campbell; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor John Swadley officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Troy Thomas, Dominique Bradley, Daunte Bradley, Tristan Watson, Mike Kinman and Rick Smith. Friends may pay their respects on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
