(From Parker Mortuary)M. James “Jim” Ford, age 80, of Frisco, TX passed away Sunday Nov. 15, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jim was born Feb. 26,1940 in Kansas City, MO to Willa Mae Moffatt. He spent his early life in Joplin, MO, graduating from Joplin High School in 1959.
He married his high school sweetheart, S. Dianne Taylor on Oct. 1, 1960. The loving couple recently celebrated 60 years of their wonderful marriage.
The couple moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1966, where Jim began a life-long career as an Insurance Multi-line Claims Representative. They had two daughters, Angela and Sherice. In the seventies, they opened a marine dealership “Ford’s Sport Center” on Oolagah Lake in Nowata, OK. The late 70’s found the family moving to Miami, OK with Jim continuing in his Insurance career. In 2000 the couple move to Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees in Grove, OK in anticipation of Jim’s retirement. In 2013 they moved to Frisco, TX to be near one of their daughters.
Jim was a faithful member of Grove First United Methodist Church for 20 years, organizer and President of the Nowata Kiwanis Club, Founder of the Nowata Bass Club and Nowata Boat Show. Jim was the Vice President of the Miami Public Finance Authority and Chairman of the Grove Municipal Services.
Survivors include his wife Dianne Ford of the home, daughters Angela Zeyn and husband Paul of Orlando, FL, Sherice Farha and husband Tim of Frisco, TX, and grandsons Travis Zeyn of McKinney, TX, Jonah Farha of Frisco, TX, and granddaughter Erica Zeyn of Orlando, FL.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandson Noah Farha in April 2019. “Papaw” and Noah have now been reunited by our Lord and are together in eternity waiting for our arrival.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at 1 pm at the Thornhill-Dillon Funeral Home in Joplin, MO with the Rev. Randy Hamill officiating. Entombment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum, Joplin, MO.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Grove First United Methodist Church, Grove, OK or the American Cancer Society.
