(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Dorothy Mae Johnson, age 90, passed away at 11:11 AM, Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Galena Nursing Center, Galena, KS following an illness.
Dorothy was born June 19, 1930 in Webb City, MO. Her parents were Roy and Lula Belle (Rickman) Reis. She had lived in Galena since 1955.
She graduated from Carl Junction (MO) High School with the class of 1947. She began her work career at Campbell’s 66 Express in Webb City. She was an office manager and had worked at Farmer’s Chemical Company, Joplin, MO for several years. She then began working at Standard Iron and Steel, Webb City where she continued to work into her 80’s.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Webb City. Her favorite pastime was hunting arrowheads and other artifacts all around their property.
Dorothy was married to Wayne Johnson on February 6, 1949 in Carl Junction. He survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Gary Wayne Johnson (wife, Deonne), Hutchinson, KS; two daughters, Kathy Boccia (husband, John), Potwin, KS and Lana Royster (husband, Jeff) Galena; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with a new great-granddaughter on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, Troy Charles Johnson, and her brother, Bobby Reis.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Monday, November 30, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS..
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday November 30, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Kyle Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
