(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Charles Gregory “Chuck" Wilson, age 61, entered the Kingdom of Heaven Tuesday November 17, 2020 at home with his family by his side.
Chuck was born August 18, 1959 in Norwalk, CA, to Charles and Naomi (Dawson) Wilson. He lived in Baxter Springs for the past 35 years, moving from Joplin, MO.
He was employed by Farm Bureau Insurance Agency for 15 years. He previously worked at area auto dealerships as a salesman, where he was known as “Mookie” Wilson.
Chuck was a member of Bethel Church, Baxter Springs, KS. He was also a member of the Baxter Springs Golf and Country Club. As a young man, he played baseball with Crowder College in Neosho, MO, and later at Missouri Southern in Joplin. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and nearly any outdoor activity. He loved to play cards and dominos. He enjoyed music, watching sports, but most of all he loved being with his grandbabies who affectionately called him “Papa”.
Chuck was always ready to go and have fun, no matter what you asked him to do. Whether it was going to the lake, out to eat, a trip to Cancun, or even going to a football game two hours away to watch someone he didn’t know, his reply was always, “I’M IN!” Everyone loved that about him, and loved the way he enjoyed life.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kimberly Ann Howey Wilson. He always loved to tell people, “She's a Lucky Lucky Lady” (because she was married to him). Additional survivors include one son, Zackary Wilson (wife, Shannon), Baxter Springs; one daughter, Laci Bautista, Baxter Springs; two grandchildren, Brennan Wilson and Jagger Wilson; his father-in-law Paul Howey (wife, Janie), Joplin; brother-in-law, Kenny Howey (wife, Sherri), Baxter Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Naomi Wilson and his favorite mother-in-law, Barbara Bunce Howey.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21st, 2020 at Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS. Pastor Mark Kerr will officiate. In case of rain, the service will be moved to Bethel Church.
Pallbearers: Darren Abbott, Shane Allen, Bill Davis, Kenny Michael Howey, Kurtis Howey, and Kevin Kemp.
In lieu of floral memorials, the family asks that contributions be made to Bethel Church in memory of Chuck. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS.
