(From Parker Mortuary)Kenneth Bernard Brockel, age 73, Joplin, formerly of St. Charles, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Mercy of Joplin.
Kenneth was born September 29, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Henry Brockel and Leona Happi Brockel. He grew up in St. Louis, attended Catholic Schools of St. Louis, and later attended college in St. Louis. He worked for 32 years with the St. Charles Sheriff's Department before retiring as a detective. He also graduated from the F.B.I. Training School, Quantico.
He moved to Joplin in 2006, and began working at Gilster Mary Lee which he did until retiring again in 2019. While working at Gilster he met Virginia Riggins in 2008, and the couple later married.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Riggins Brockel; daughter, Tina Schott and her two sons of Lee's Summit, Missouri; son, Greg Brockel of St. Louis; two adopted grandsons, Dorin and Damon Wiemar of St. Ann, Missouri; and his former wife, Dorothy Brockel of St. Ann; several other extended family, and many friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
No formal services are planned at this time.
