(From Parker Mortuary)Sergio Gonzalez, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at his home with family at his side.
Sergio was born September 19, 1934 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, son of the late Jose Gonzalez and Emilia Gonzalez. He lived in Illinois, in the Chicago area.
He worked for years with the Chicago Public Schools where he retired, and moved to Joplin. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.
In addition to his parents, Sergio was preceded in death by a son, Giovanni Gonzalez.
Survivors include his wife, Blanca Gonzalez; son, Sergio Gonzalez; daughters, Blanca Gonzalez, Yvonne Gonzalez, Diana Vasquez, and Michelle Gonzalez; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Cremation will the service under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
