(From Daniel Funeral Home)Ralph Raymond Shiflett, age 86, passed away November 26, 2020.
Ralph was born September 7,1934 to John and Zelma (Burch) Shiflett in Kenoma, Missouri, later moving to Boston, MO. at the age of three where he was raised with his sister Florence. Ralph attended and graduated from Boston schools.
After 8th grade Ralph worked for the Garner family and the Gastle family on their farms. He worked for the MFA in Jasper, MO, where he got the desire to drive a truck. At a young age he came to Kansas City, MO to work for Bruce Milling Company as a truck driver.
Ralph was then called to serve his country in the United States Army, upon his return he worked over 30 years for Interpace Lock Joint Pipe/Price Brothers. Ralph logged over 4 million miles behind the wheel of a truck. There was nothing he could not do. He was proprietor of Ralph's Small Engine in Shawnee, Kansas and spent 15 years at Deffenbaugh as a truck mechanic and later shop supervisor until his retirement.
He and his wife Betty moved back to Boston, MO after his retirement and lived in the farm house and property he grew up on. Ralph accepted a job with Lamar Parks and Recreation and worked there for four years before permanently retiring. Ralph was a proud member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge #54, Northeast Valley of the Scottish Rite, York Ride of Kansas City and Abdallah Shrine.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Betty, two sons; Albert and Alan, two daughters; Rosalie and Kathleen, four grandchildren; Dusty, Mike, Alex and Cassandra, three great-grandchilren; Ellie, Holly, Everett and his sister Florence Wilson and her family.
Ralph will be remembered for his knowledge and his ability as a man that could do anything and repair anything proficiently, his wit and sense of humor, teaching his children and grandchildren what he could to assist them in their life's journey. He very much loved and cared for his family and will be truly missed.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 4th, 2020 at Waters Cemetery in Jasper, MO.
